Noun+は
は (wa) – The topic particle は marks the topic of a sentence: what you are talking about. It is written with the hiragana は but pronounced “wa”.Particle私は学生です。I am a student. -

Noun+が
が (ga) – The subject particle が marks the subject of a sentence, new information, and the thing that is liked, wanted, understood or owned.Particle誰が来ましたか。Who came? -

Noun+も
も (mo) – “Also” and “too” も means also or too. It replaces は, が or を to add something to what was already said.Particle私も学生です。I am a student too. -

Noun+を+Verb
を (o) – The object particle を marks the direct object of an action, and also the place you move through or leave.Particle本を読みます。I read a book. -

Noun+の+Noun
の (no) – Possession and connection の links two nouns. The first noun describes, owns or limits the second.Particleこれは私の本です。This is my book. -

Noun+に
に (ni) – Time, destination and target に marks a specific time, a destination, a place of existence and the person an action is directed to.Particle七時に起きます。I get up at seven. -

Noun+で
で (de) – Place of action and means で marks where an action takes place, and the tool, transport or language used to do it.Particle図書館で勉強します。I study at the library. -

Place+へ
へ (e) – Direction particle へ marks the direction of movement. It is written へ but pronounced “e”.Particle日本へ行きます。I go to Japan. -

Noun+と
と (to) – “And” and “with” と joins nouns as “and”, and marks the person you do something with.Particle本とノートを買います。I buy a book and a notebook. -

Sentence+か
か (ka) – The question particle か turns a sentence into a polite question, and also means “or” between nouns.Particle学生ですか。Are you a student? -

AからBまで
から / まで – From … until … から marks a starting point, and まで marks an end point, in time or place.Particle九時から五時まで働きます。I work from nine to five. -

Noun+です
です / でした – Polite “to be” です is the polite way to say A is B. It changes for negative and past.Sentence ending私は先生です。I am a teacher. -

Verb stem+ます
~ます – Polite verb ending The ます-form is the polite form of a verb. It covers present, future, negative and past.Verb form毎日水を飲みます。I drink water every day. -

Verb て+います
~ています – Ongoing action and states ~ています shows an action in progress, a continuing state, or a habit.Verb form今、本を読んでいます。I am reading a book now. -

Verb て+ください
~てください – Please do … ~てください is a polite request. Noun をください means please give me.Verb formここに名前を書いてください。Please write your name here. -

Verb stem+たい
~たい – Want to do ~たい expresses that the speaker wants to do something. It conjugates like an い-adjective.Verb form日本へ行きたいです。I want to go to Japan. -

Verb stem+ましょう/ませんか
~ましょう / ~ませんか – Let us … / Would you like to …? ~ましょう suggests doing something together. ~ませんか is a softer invitation.Verb form一緒に行きましょう。Let us go together. -

Place に Noun が あります/います
あります / います – There is, there are あります is for things and plants. います is for people and animals. Both say that something exists in a place.Verb机の上に本があります。There is a book on the desk. -

い-adjective+です
い-adjectives – Describing with 〜い い-adjectives end in い and conjugate by changing that ending: くない, かった, くなかった.Adjectiveこの本は高いです。This book is expensive. -

な-adjective+です
な-adjectives – Describing with 〜な な-adjectives add な before a noun and use です or ではありません like nouns.Adjectiveこの町は静かです。This town is quiet. -

AはBより+Adjective
AはBより Adjective – Comparing two things Use AはBより Adjective to say A is more (adjective) than B. B is the standard and A is the thing you describe.Comparison今日は昨日より暑いです。Today is hotter than yesterday. -

Noun+が+好きです
好き / 嫌い / 上手 / 下手 with が Feelings and skills like 好き, 嫌い, 上手 and 下手 take が for the thing they refer to.Adjective私は猫が好きです。I like cats. -

Verb て+もいいです
~てもいいです – Permission ~てもいいですか asks permission. ~てもいいです gives it.Verb formここに座ってもいいですか。May I sit here? -

Verb て+はいけません
~てはいけません – Must not ~てはいけません says that something is not allowed.Verb formここで写真を撮ってはいけません。You must not take photos here.
